Boy Scout Troop 455 of Johnsburg, Illinois is a prime example of what a dynamic Scout troop should be. The troop, chartered by the Johnsburg Community Club in October of 1972, has a long history of outdoor activities and community service, while running a top notch youth leadership development program. The Troop has earned the Quality Unit Award each year since 2000, and has 114 Eagle Scouts to prove it.
The Troop has an outing every month, year round, with a one week summer camp for all scouts and a High Adventure Program for the older Scouts. Scouts earn funds for their trips by participating in fundraisers during the year.
Some of the troop’s favorite places to visit are: Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimarron, New Mexico (Backpacking), Sea Base, Florida Keys, Bahamas and U.S Virgin Islands (Sailing), Quetico Boundary Waters, Ely, Minnesota (canoeing), and Summit S.R. /ACE Adventure Center on the New River in West Virginia (white water rafting).
Troop summer camps have been held in Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. We bike, hike, scuba dive and snorkel, sleep in caves, explore dunes, see nature and learn about our world.
We participate in community events such as parades, create service projects to meet the needs of others, and have boys joining us from all over northern McHenry County.
We are proud to be known as THE JOHNSBURG BOY SCOUT TROOP.
